Sunshine Stars striving for perfection in title chase, says Kennedy Boboye

The Akure Gunners remain unshaken at home this season, and the gaffer believes that this is the level his team should always aspire to win the league diadem

Coach Kennedy Boboye has called on Sunshine Stars players to reproduce the kind of form that saw them defeat FC Taraba 2-1 in Sunday's Nigeria topflight game.
The Akure Gunners have been in irresistible form this season winning all their home matches which has sent  a clear signal of their title-winning intent.

Boboye hailed the brilliance of his boys against the Jalingo Boys and has said they are not under any threat to win the league despite a massive threat from the Aba Elephants.
“We are on top of the league going into the first stanza break and also having in mind that we didn’t drop any game at home,”

“All we have to do now is return for the second part of the season and continue our fight. The league title is all we are fighting for.”
A brace from red-hot Tunde Adeniji were all the Sunshine Stars needed to put FC Taraba who went ahead courtesy of Stephen Adah in the 11th minute to the sword in Sunday’s game and the soft-spoken coach said his side went down because his players underestimated the Jalingo based team.

“I feel my boys underrated [Taraba FC] because of their position on the league. I had warned them they would be here for a fight and moreover, when a team changes their coaches, every player would want to play for the new handler,” he continued.
“We were down, went in to the half time break and gave the boys some pep talk – then we came back in the second half to finish the game.

“Honestly, we are not under pressure owing to other teams breathing on our neck, all we will do is tidy up our homework, give a good fight and definitely at the end of the season emerge as league champions.

“It's still 19 games and we have to try to win every one, then we are surely on top. It won't be easy because Enyimba are just behind us, but we will see,” he concluded.
Sunshine Stars and Enyimba are tied on 36 points in the Premier League, but the Akure Gunners are on top with goal difference.
